R.I.P The Sun & The Mirror As You Know It

I was in West Kensington hunting for a bargain in the Borders closing down sale; after picking up two books totalling £3 I honestly couldn’t complain. Then I overheard someone say “People don’t read anymore”….I beg to differ, people still read but where and how they read is changing.
Yes, this decade we will be attending the funeral of many printed newspapers and witness the decline in health of printed books. Unlike Archie Mitchell this is one murder that even Chief Clancy Wiggum will be able to solve.
The cloaked murder shall come in the form of hand held E-reader devices. Non conformists shall straight away jump to the defence of print newspapers and books with arguments ranging from tradition to health effects on the eyes. Yet students, schools, environmentalist, businesses and broadsheet strugglers alike may argue different.
Trendy students and non trendy students will no longer have to carry textbooks, risk losing books or doing their backs in because they shall have all their reading material in the palm of their hand.
Imagine every school possesses an e-reader device which they hand out in lessons, which has their reading material for the term. Environmentalists that cringe at paper consumption, especially all the paper wasted in schools and businesses would see an e-reader device as the lesser of 2 evils.
Business plans, documents, spreadsheets and reports will be in one central location instead of clusters of paper on the desk and carrying that ridiculous briefcase. Smaller, lighter and better on the eyes than your average lappy and provides a better reading experience than a web browser. Those that struggle to fold and hold broadsheet newspapers shall be able to purchase newspapers that plan on surviving this decade, on their e-reader device.
The Techy massive and those who already read books online may have already purchased an e- reader device called the Kindle. Amazon’s Kindle has enjoyed much success and is currently a market leader for now but for how much longer? They face stiff competition from Barnes and Noble’s trendy looking Nook which, was a sell out BEFORE Christmas as was Sony’s e-reader device.
Google in 2009 made an aggressive attempt to wrestle their share of the market by providing FREE e-reader applications for smartphones such as the i-phone. That must have made someone in the Apple HQ sit up and take note because in 2010 we shall see the unveiling of the iSlate (remember where you heard it first), which shall also be a threat to the TV and video world.
Watch an e-reader devices shall be come a common feature of the library, workplace, university campus and public transport!!!

Boo to e-readers and e-books, give me a good old newspaper or book anyday…although I do like the environmentally friendly aspect of it so I’ll give it half a boo and half a thumbs up lol
Before the decade is done Cheryl you shall have one…pbleepd take a hint STAY ONLINE!!!
Yea, it makes sense, I remember carrying books upon books at uni…Students should be happy
