Good Music Takeover 2010: Hip-Hop
Posted on 01. Mar, 2010 by admin in Entertainment, Music
If there’s been a revitalisation of true R&B as of late then it’s fair to say that there has been a resurgence of Hip-Hop. MCs have dipped into more levels of their artistry from the real rawness or amazing compositon of chosen beats to their storytelling rhymes and multiple uses of word play. What we’ve seen remain constant is the energy and intelligence in alot of the rapper’s delivery.
2009 brought A-Game material from the veterans: Jadakiss (The Last Kiss) Raekwon (Only Built For Cuban Linx 2) Mos Def (The Ecstatic) Jay-Z (Blueprint 3) to the established: Fabolous (Loso’s Way) Rick Ross (Deeper Than Rap) 50 Cent (Before I Self Destruct) to the rookies: Wale (Attention Deficit) Kid Cudi (Man on the Moon: The End of Day)
2010 releases hope to build on that element with some highly anticipated album releases. This has to be one of the most exciting years in Hip-Hop for a long time.
Eminem
Relapse 2
Release Date: TBA
Eminem Says: “When I finished Relapse, I had a whole album of material that didn’t make it that I wasn’t ready to throw away, so that was going to be Relapse 2. But then I got with Dre in Hawaii and started recording more, and now the new material has knocked out all the old songs.
Making Relapse, I was still working the drugs out of my system, so there was a lot of… just jokey shit. It was a lot of punchline-y, funny, shock value — kind of going back to The Slim Shady LP. And that was cool, but I’ve kind of flipped the page. Now I’m going for songs instead of one-liners.”

I’ve just been trying to make sure we’ve got the right avenues and the right brains and mindsets together to get the marketing and promoting behind it. When you work on something for, like, two years and 11 months, it’s like your baby. You want to make sure that everybody has taken the project the way they’re supposed to be taking it and the set-up is right.”

WHICH ALBUM ARE YOU LOOKING FORWARD TO?

Deffo a big year for hip hop - it made a recovery in 09 thanks to Raekwon, slaughterhouse and clipse. Jay Electronica will bring real hip hop back and Rick Ross,Jeezy and Kanye should add to their respective impressive discographies while vets like Nas,Common and Dre should drop their usual heat……Drake??? Lol he can piss off!!!
I really cannot wait for the nas and damian marley collabo, and jay elect is a big hit and the talib and hi tek! definitely one to look out for and drake seeing as he really is in a different league!!
What is this?! How can this be music? Most tracks are basically 1 or 2 guys shouting in to a microphone lyrics that no one understands and has the following 5 elements, Girls, Guns, Drugs, Money, Cars, with a background “track” that is either ripped from a famous track that is released in to the pop/disco/dance scene or just has the elements of about 5 notes.. Kool & The Gang were doing this and did it to good effect, but were not using the same notes and it was loved by everyone, this “music” appears to be loved by 15 year old boys that want to be “gangsta” and has no real hip-hop feel to it. hell, Eminem has done hip-hop stuff and has hit the pop charts or “top 40″ a number of times, why? Because he is GOOD and that’s the problem, many bands come out, rip stuff off or make proper CRAP and release it themselves without a record label online. if you’re that good, get a record contract, and I’ll be impressed.
