20. The Parkers

The spin-off show from hit sitcom Moesha came into it’s own in the early noughties featuring the mother daughter team of Nikki and Kim Parker (Monique and Countess Vaughn). Feeling the up-tempo R&B feel of this one, even got some auto-tune in there.
19. 2 Point 4 Children

Very underrated british sitcom which ran for 8 seasosn throughout the 90’s. Simple intro with lullaby music and only a snippet of how crazy that family actually was. You can still catch the show on GOLD and UKTV
18. Moesha

The show which catapulted Brandy Norwood’s career and introduced young cats like ourselves into the rigours of growing up and family life. Written by Mara Brock Akil (the woman behind hit show Girlfriends) Moesha had a loyal fanbase and two great intros.
17. Red Dwarf

Ok so technically this britcom’s best theme song came at the end of every episode but it deserves a spot. The show situated in space ran between the lates 80s and late 90s. You can catch the show on channel Dave
16. Sister Sister

Nickelodeon was the station, Sister Sister was the destination. Tia and Tamera Mowry were twins seperated at birth who found each other by mistake at a mall. The rest is history. Fun intro for a great show. You can still catch the show on Nickelodeon.
15. BIRDS OF A FEATHER

Brilliant Britcom starring Pauline Quirke and Linda Robson. Another show starting in the late 80s and finishing in the late 90s, Birds of a feather had a brilliant and simplistic intro. It had a real portrayal of a growing friendship and a great composed music.
14. Happy Days

Happy Days is an American television sitcom that originally aired from 1974 to 1984. The show presents an idealized vision of life in mid 1950s to mid 1960s America. Probably one of the most famous intros in television history. “Aaaay”
13. Married With Children

Great sitcom starring Ed O’Neil. We love this intro for the contrast between the positive music and the disdain Al Bundy feels for his family. The show ran for 11 seasons from 1987 to 1997.
12. TWO AND A HALF MEN

A Current classic heading into it’s 8th season starring Charlie Sheen. It currently hails as one of the most watched sitcoms ever in the United States. Any intro that can use just one word in it’s music and sound better than most, gets our vote. Catch the show on Comedy Central.
11. TAXI

This has to be one of the most non sitcom feel intros ever. The smooth jazz fusion however attracts interest straight away for this cult classic which only ran for 5 years but scooped up countless awards. You can catch the show on Comedy Central.
10. Different Strokes

70s to 80s sitcom starring famous little man Gary Coleman. Great concept for the show and intro which promotes equality amongst colour and classes.
9. The Golden Girls

Starring Bea Arthur, Betty White, Rue McClanahan and Estelle Getty, the show centers on four older women sharing a Miami, Florida home. Great jokes on this show which got alot of airtime internationally. Any intro that has my mum singing along is surely a classic?
8. Frasier

Again technically this is not an intro but like red dwarf you remember the show for it’s brilliant closing music. Kelsey Grammer over a tight jazz production is great stuff. The show which ran for a record 13 seasons can still be seen on Channel 4 and comedy central.
7. A Different World

The spin off show from the classic Cosby show was a brilliant underrated portrayal of college life amongst minorities. The show which launched the career of a host of stars from Kadeem Hardison to Jada Pinkett ran from 1987 to 1993
6. Friends
The song for this classic sitcom became a classic in it’s own right in the singles charts. It was cheesy but we all loved it. 10 seasons strong Friends can be seen on a range of channels including E4.
5. Desmond’s

Another classic intro made up of rhythm and even more up-tempo soca, sung by the top man himself. It’s cultural significance played a big part in it’s fun factor and was a hit amongst young adults.
UNFORTUNATELY SOME IDIOT HAS TAKEN IT OFF YOUTUBE AND DAILYMOTION
4. Only Fools & Horses

Arguably the greatest UK sitcom of all time is always bound to have a great opening song. The eighties comedy ran for seven series and made stars out of David Jason & Nicholas Lyndhurst. Still shown during xmas holidays on BBC you can also catch the show on UK Gold.
3. The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air

Anyone and Everyone between the ages of 10-40 should know the lyrics to this fan favourite. Will Smith was THE guy in the late 90s supported by a strong cast. Great rap-a-long intro that even gets played in the clubs every now and again
2. The Cosby SHOW

Probably the most entertaining intro in sitcom history. Each season of the show’s long run in the 80s had a different theme for the opening usually encapsulated in dance and smiles. No words needed
1. Cheers
Great visuals, great song, great sitcom. This always got viewers in the mood for the show simply for the catchy lyrics. Showing the history of the setting was a good touch, Another career launcher for the likes of Woody Harrelson & Kelsey Grammer
