6 Reasons Why Everton Deserve A Billionaire
Posted on 18. Jan, 2010 by Broadband in Football, Sports
Despite being a United supporter my blood boils with the influx of Multi-Millionaire/Billionaire buyers stripping the football identity of clubs and trying to turn them into an instant franchise, giving fans unrealistic expectations and stifling the steady progress of young players, managers and the club as a whole….Cough Man City Cough.
That being said there is an example of those recently who have done it right. Randy Lerner has taken over at Aston Villa, recruited one of UK’s best managers and let him orchestrate a team capable of challenging for a top 4 spot..steadily; and after witnessing a resurgence in the Everton fold I think it’s time they had their own Randy Lerner.
Everton’s classy defeat of the multi-million worth Manchester City on the weekend was a shining example of the amazing set-up and perseverance they have mustered up over the past few seasons with minimal resources. David Moyes has continuously produced the goods despite hoping and praying for more transfer funds; why hasn’t anybody put in a firm bid for the club?
6 Reasons Why Everton Deserve A Millionaire/Billionaire
History
Here you have a club with a history of accomplishment and accolades, warranted the last time they won anything of significance was likely to be before I was born but in terms of what they have achieved since they’ve existed, they are a big English Club.
With the likes of Andy Gray, Fred Pickering, Duncan Ferguson and David Unsworth to put on the blue shirt they have had a variety of top figures who have spearheaded the club’s continuous stature and importance in English Football
As an investor it would be excellent business and of great interest to resurrect the clubs glory years as it is something they’re not a stranger to
David Moyes
Moyes is easily the best manager outside of the top 4 (some may say he surpasses Rafa Benitez). Great tactical sense with a history of buying and loaning quality players and those who are RIGHT for the club’s progress; it’s a shame he hasn’t been touted seriously as Fergie’s replacement. He utilises his resources exceptionally well and brings the best out of players you wouldnt consider world class. With the right financial backings its assured that he would make astute signings and guide the club’s progress
Top 4,5,6
In the past three or four seasons Everton have finished in 4th, 5th or 6th ; they have established themselves as contenders in Europe and are always knocking on the door of Liverpool and co at the top. Transfer funds would surely push them that much further so they are able to compete at the very top in time and establish themselves as a threat in Europe. This is no Norwich or Sunderland of past tenure who reached the top 6 of the table one season then fell down the wayside the next, Everton are ALWAYS there.
Young Team
Moyes has built a team of experienced and youthful players; the likes of Johnny Vaughn, Victor Anichibe, Dan Gosling, Marouane Fellaini and Jack Rodwell amongst others have settled extremely well into a side of experienced and peak players. A millionaire/billionaire owner would be investing in a team of the future and can bring in stars who can guide and nurture the growth of the young players
Footballing City
There’s no doubt what you get with Merseyside, a club rich in football history and with loyal fans. Liverpool Vs Everton is still the biggest derby in English football and fans are riled up for these occasions. When investing in such a club, you get the whole package from what you see on the pitch to what you see on the pitch. Football isn’t just a business in Liverpool, its a lifestyle, and that’s what many owners fail to realise; however with a club like Everton they’ll know straight away.
Great Players Deserve Glory
You look at the work ethic and talent of such players as Tim Cahill, Mikel Arteta, Tony Hibbert, Leon Osman, Steven Pienaar and Joseph Yobo and feel that they deserve silverware. They are all a class act and with the introduction of more technically gifted players to the
club via a giving owner they could very well see silverware. We cant all win it but we should be given the same type of opportunity as others.
Someone buy this club!

I bid £200, The other £999,999,800 is in the post, just waiting for it to be wired into my Ugandan offshore acoount. lol Good points made.
As much as I dislike the Bitters - I will admit they are a big club and they and liverpool both deserve sugar daddys more than the likes of city and chelsea.
Ps when Moe Sizlack (David Moyes) achieves an iota of what Rafa does then the 2 can be remotely compared
